Powerisers

Powerisers - Training, Tutorials and Lessons

First Lesson - Standing and walking with help
Nearly everybody needs help initially. Don't risk falling straight away by trying to stand on your own. We suggest you start by sitting on something like a wall and then have somebody to help pull you up.

Second Lesson - Walking alone
Point your feet forward and try walking with small steps. It may be useful to have another person nearby and use their shoulder as a balance aid. When you are confident enough to relax try and let go entirely. You’ll get the hang of this very quickly.

Third Lesson - Running
Try and gradually increase the pace of your walking. When confident you can progress to a gentle run. Be careful to not let your legs catch each other as this will throw you off balance. You will find the more you relax and let the springs work the easier it will be, allowing you to take longer and longer strides. Watch out for uneven surfaces, and if necessary lift your knees up higher when approaching a pavement.

Fourth Lesson - Jumping
Once your sprinting along past bikers and kids on their skate boards, you may wish to try a jump. There are basically two types of jump; the first is a natural progression from running. This is when you jump with one foot directing the power upwards instead of forwards. You can experiment by standing in one place jumping from your left to your right leg. You will gain maximum power by stepping off at the lowest point, like you would if you were squatting and jumping from one leg to another. The second type of jump is a two footed jump. This is more difficult but much more powerful. It is exactly like the technique described for the one footed jump but you use both legs. The more energy you exert the higher you go!

Fifth Lesson – Getting up after a fall
Rising after falling will if you are careful be unnecessary. However, if you do find yourself in this situation first grab hold of something for support. Then put one leg in front and one leg behind like you would in the splits, and slowly raise yourself up.
